I lived in Greece (Crete) from the age of 21 to 25 years old ... I'm now 58.My spoken Greek was pretty good when I left Crete but I hadn't pursued it at all in the years after I left.I started lessons with Vaios October 22, I feel like the lessons have re awakened something in me .... a love of Greece and its beautiful language. Vaios is a great teacher, patient, articulate and funny. I learnt Greek 'by ear' so have never studied the grammar and at my age it is a real up hill struggle but Vaios has kept me going with encouragement and humour. Sometimes I feel like I'm making headway with it .... Other times I too want to throw all the books in the bin! I would thoroughly recommend pushing yourself and signing up to some lessons - you won't be disappointed- Vaios is great

I have been having lessons with Vaios for 12 weeks now. I started to learn Greek around 15 years ago and although I knew the basics I never had the confidence to speak the language and of course most of it you forget after 15 years.. Vaios has instilled confidence in me. From the offset Vaios asked me what my goals were and I told him I needed to build my confidence in speaking. I have now spoken more Greek in the last 12 weeks than I have ever done! The lessons are casual and at my pace and the exercises he gives me to do at home give me the perfect opportunity to understand more. His patience brings out the best in me and I have no embarrassment at getting my words mixed up or my pronunciation wrong (which happens at every lesson ) If you are apprehensive about starting I can only say you will love every minute of it. My goal was to learn Greek that was more than simply a tourist's knowledge of Greek. I cannot say enough how happy I am with my Greek lessons especially considering the fact that I've only been taking lessons since the middle of September 2020!! I found Mr. Vaios Nikolitsas and his company www.onlinegreeklessons.com through research I did on Google and was pleasantly surprised at the incredible amount of value he provides at a very reasonable price. I am always encouraged to speak as much as I can even though I know I am making mistakes. According to Vaios, my Greek is improving steadily week after week. His teaching style is very tailored to each specific student (in this case that is myself) and whatever the student is looking to achieve with taking his classes. It is very evident how much he loves what he does because of the enormous amount of time he spends developing a curriculum which is up to and including reading Greek text, studying grammar structure and listening to Vaios's own voice recordings so that the student can compare one's own pronunciation to proper Greek pronunciation. The dedication that Vaios provides to the student extends well beyond the actual class time which truly is a testament to the dedication that he demonstrates for the student. The time investment that Vaios devotes is something that he in return strongly encourages from the student. His idea is really that whatever you put into your studies is what you're going to get out of it. In other words, he sets a very good example for the student as well as the tone that he's trying to achieve in delivering his coursework and classes to the student. At the end of the day, I would strongly recommend to anyone who reads this that you absolutely will learn proper Greek through taking classes with Mr. Nikolitsas. Myself and my 2 teenagers nieces have started learning Greek a couple of months back and for the first time in our life. By chance we were directed to Vaios and that was a good luck for us. I'm a little disappointed to find that Greek spelling and grammar is not so straightforward but I still love the language!

My teacher Vaios, from Athens, has a thorough knowledge of the grammar and the etymology of the language which are of particular interest to me. He teaches all the macro skills, reading, writing, listening & speaking, using functional and useful vocabulary. He scaffolds and sequences the content in a manner which is easy to follow and is very mindful of the importance of revision and reinforcement.

He understands the individual needs and interests of his students and is aware of the educational value of teaching to those needs and interests. One of my interests for example is developing language through song.

What a gift to be able to learn a language live from a native speaker on the other side of the world!

PS: I feel privileged that my teacher also shares some of his mum's Greek cuisine secrets!
